Guntersville FIshing Charter May 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville has really turned on in the last few days with the much needed rain and current. I guided 4 days this week and the catch rates improved daily. There is always a shallow bite in a grass lake and that is evident at the moment but now there is a deep bite as well. We averaged 20 fish landed on 5 hour trips this week and some days our best 5 was over a 4lb average. Up shallow Texas rigged plastics are getting tons of bites but out deep your bait choice has to be a little more dynamic. Crankbaits, swimbaits and jigs are best out on the ledges. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 28th Weiss lake bass fishing report
Weiss is fishing really good at the moment. Both spots and largemouth are feeding agressively. The spotted bass can be found on gravel bars in 5 feet and a Carolina rig or 3/8 oz jig are getting the job done. Largemouth are up shallow in the water willow and near rock structure. Flipping and pitching a creature bait is a great way to catch them and a spinnerbait is producing when the wind blows. The local weekend warrior tournaments are being won with 5 fish around 18-19 pounds. As the full moon passes the weights and fish catch rates will improve. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 27th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville is a massive and dynamic fishery. Now is the time to hone your skills at every technique. There are fish in 1 foot and 30 feet as well as anywhere in between. You can catch them on a big crankbait or a frog or just about anything in your box but you have to adjust and adapt to be succesful on a consistent basis. I guided everyday this week and we averaged catching 20 fish per day. One day we had a best 5@25 pounds which was also the day we had the least amount of bites. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 18th Guntersville bass fishing report
Water temps are in the 70s and everything in the lake is spawning. It's fun out there right now but it can also be challenging. I did 4 guide trips this week and we have caught them from 18 inches to 18 feet. We are catching about 25 a day and the average size is excellent for April. The easiest way to get bit is plastics up shallow but the bigger fish are out deeper and their feeding windows are short. A big group has spawned but many more have not. As the weather keeps warming the ledges will start producing soon. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Neely Henry bass fishing report
Wow!!! I am thrilled to see my home lake is producing as good as it has in decades. 10th place in the local weekend tournament was 18 pounds. I had a guide trip today on Neely and it was just spectacular. We landed 40 and our best 5 fish was 19 pounds. We caught them every stop out on the river and in the creeks. A brown and orange jig as well as a dt6 crankbait were our best baits. We caught a mix of spots and largemouth with many being prespawn so the fishing should keep getting better. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Fish are in all 3 phases at the moment. There is a group of prespawners staging outside the bays and coves. There is a group up around the beds and a group of post spawn fish moving out of the spawning areas. These tennesee river bass don't hang around when they spawn they move quickly to post spawn areas to rest and recover. Last week the fishing was the best it has been in a while and my clients from Monday won their tournament Sunday with 24.88 pounds. Dragging plastics around beds is the best way to catch numbers but to catch that kind of weight staging areas with fish that are coming and going is the best tactic. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 4th Guntersville fishing report
When the calendar flipped to April the fishing improved instantly. March was a bit of a struggle but with the warming water temperature consistently in the sixties the fish are getting acclimated and feeding. I did two trips Monday and we landed 37 total with 9 over 4 pounds. The shallow bite is the dominant pattern now with most of our fish coming in 1-3 feet of water on plastics. Shallow bays and coves where spawning activity is seen is where the most fish catches are occurring. As the water warms the bluegill and shad will start to spawn and that will yield excellent fishing. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter April 4th Guntersville fishing report
When the calendar switched to April the fishing instantly improved. March was a bit of a struggle but the water temperature has been in the sixties continuously for a couple of weeks and the fish are getting acclimated to it. I did two trips Monday and we landed 37 total with 9 fish over 4 pounds. The shallow bite is the dominant pattern now. Our best baits are soft plastics in 1-3 feet in the coves and bays where spawning activity is observed. If the weather will cooperate we will see bluegill and shad spawning in the coming weeks which can provide excellent fishing. Guntersville FIshing Charter March 23rd Guntersville bass fishing report
With this unstable weather the fishing has been changing daily. Monday it was 28 degrees at daylight and the fishing was actually pretty good then it warmed up and the wind layed down later in the week and the fishing got tougher. On the windy days crankbaits and jerkbaits produced well but on the calm days we had to drag a jig on deep shellbeds near the creek channel. I did 2 guide trips this week and we averaged 20 fish per day with a couple of 7 pounders. As the weather stabilizes we will start seeing fish in all 3 stages with the best fishing being on the places where you can locate fish going and coming into the spawning regions. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter March 15th Guntersville bass fishing report
There is a lot happening at guntersville right now. A big group of fish is on bed relative to the new moon and rising water temps. There are 3 large tournaments this weekend and the water level is fluctuating daily. I did 4 guide trips this week and we had to sample prespawn and spawning fish in different areas and depth zones to get bit consistently. We averaged 20 fish landed per day and our best 5 fish was around 17-18 pounds per day. We caught fish dragging plastics in beds and throwing crankbaits in 6-9 feet in the staging areas. I believe next week we will see a dramatic improvement in the fish catch rate because of more consistent conditions and this group of spawners will be post spawn. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
