Guntersville FIshing Charter Find the bait and you will find the bass
Fall is here and it was 49 degrees last night in Guntersville. Now 1 dominant pattern has emerged. Shad, shad and more shad. Threadfin and gizzard shad are now the main forage and locating an area with a school of shad will also hold a school of bass. This is more complicated than it sounds as the baitfish migrate around the lake constantly and only remain in a location for a short period of time. The areas that are full of shad at certain times often will be good that same time the next day or even week but if you miss your timing it could be desolate. This time of year you have to stay on the move until you locate feeding fish and when they are done you must get gone yourself. My clients have been averaging 40 bass landed per day and as the temperatures drop the size will increase. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter 3 Significant Patterns at Guntersville.
Guntersville is really good at the moment and it is improving daily. It took almost 40 pounds to win the Bfl last weekend and there were several anglers with phenomenal weights for September. There are 3 completely different ways to catch them at the moment. Believe it or not the deep ledge bite is still pretty good. Tva is generating current and those 12-14 feet ledges are continuing to produce. To generate the most bites a small shad imitating bait around the outside grasslines is producing well. Ofcourse the tournament winning fish are being caught flipping/frogging. It's a hero or zero technique but when they are eating the frog nothing is more fun. Guntersville FIshing Charter September 21st Guntersville fishing report
Down goes Kermit; If you like big line, big rods and a frog now is the time to come to guntersville. The Bfl super tournament is this weekend and unless somebody finds a magical school still out deep this event will definitely be won on a frog and a flipping stick. Most of my clients like to catch schooling fish this time of year but if you are willing to take a chance in the thick stuff that's where the biggest fish will be. It has been fun out deep on the ledges all summer but with the cooler weather and waning current it's time to go shallow and get your boat dirty. Guntersville FIshing Charter September 12th Guntersville fishing report
It's fun out on the big pond right now. As this cooler weather approaches it's going to get even better. There are 3 ways to attack guntersville at the moment. For numbers of fish shad imitating baits in the shallow grass is the best deal. To catch big fish you can go and fish the summertime ledges or frog and flip. Yesterday we sampled all 3 patterns and landed 56 bass with 3 in the 5 pound range. As the water cools and the days get shorter the grass patterns will get stronger but there are always big fish out deep at guntersville. Guntersville FIshing Charter September 1st Guntersville bass fishing report
In September you have to be dynamic and versatile to catch them everyday. Last week we had some cooler cloudy weather and I was able to get on some shallow fish chasing bait. This week it got hot and bright and I had to move back out deep to get it going. I have fished competitively all my life and I have been very successful however in this day and age you have to be able to make difficult decisions quickly and correctly to stay at the top of the game. If you plan to fish your favorite spot with your favorite bait you are going to struggle at times. Guntersville FIshing Charter Guntersville fall fishing preview
It's football season!!! Guntersville is full of fat healthy bass that look like footballs. The fall is when the fun starts. This time of year huge schools of big, hungry bass roam nomadically following baitfish. When you pull up on the right hole at the right time it can be incredible. Last week I saw schools feeding with 30-100 bass in them. These fish are in an agressive mood and they are not as wary as springtime spawning fish. I average 30 fish landed per day year around but it's more like 40 in the fall. The best baits are spooks and crankbaits. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Wow!!! What a day and thankfully I had a great consistent client in the boat when it happened. Yesterday we started out at daylight like always. From daylight until 10am we landed 30 with 4 big fish which is pretty much par for the course. At 10am I idled over a big crankbait hole and there were so many bass on it they started blowing up in my bubble trail. We got a bite every cast for 2 hours. When we landed number 100 my client said "I am exhausted let's go" and we did. I am not sure how many we could have caught but they were showing no signs of slowing down. The fishing is great and it will keep improving as temperatures drop. Go by gto and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter August 1st Guntersville fishing report
The next few months are going to be fun. There are 3 ways to approach guntersville at this time. Froggin/flippin,deep ledges and schooling fish. This last week I have caught some giants on Kermit but some days they just blow up and miss the frog while other days you can't take it away from them. The deep ledge bite will continue to be a factor for several more weeks and has been the best way to catch big ones since May. Now we have a 3rd option. Schooling fish can be exciting and challenging at the same time. I did a trip last week where we had over 100 bass on top feeding at the same time.
