Quepos Fishing

Quepos Fishing

Quepos, Costa Rica is one of the top fishing destinations in the world to catch a Pacific Sailfish and home of the World Record Snook that weighed 59.5 pounds. With excellent deep water and rocky cliffs right on its coastline, Quepos provides some of the best fishing for many different species of fish throughout the year.

The deep azure waters offers excellent billfishing, and the reason there are many fishing tournaments held in Quepos each year. The top targeted species is Sailfish with the main season between December and May. Blue Marlin are abundant most of the year, but April – June and October – December are best. Black Marlin fishing is also very popular here when the season peaks between October and December.

Offshore fishing Quepos will also produce great catches of Dorado (Dolphinfish), Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. . There is also good Sierra and Chub Mackerel fishing closer to shore. Fishing around the many rocks and small islands will produce Roosterfish most of the year, with the peak season between July and September. There are many different species of Grouper and Snapper you will catch while bottom fishing, but also quite a few Amberjacks, Corvina, Jack Crevalle, and Trevally.
