Guntersville FIshing Charter August 19th Guntersville bass fishing report
Wow!!! The big fish showed up this week. One of my trips landed a best 5 over 24lbs. The rain, cooler nights and shorter days have the big fish feeding agressively at guntersville. We have been consistently landing over 30 fish a day and now the size is showing up as well. This fall is setting up to be one for the ages. If you find the bait you will find feeding largemouth bass right now at guntersville. The fish are roaming around nomadically feeding on schools of shad. Our best baits have been a whopper plopper at daylight and then a crankbait when the sun comes up and the fish move deeper in the water column. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.

Wow!!! The big fish showed up this week. One of my trips had a best 5 over 24 pounds and everyday the fishing seemed to improve. Rain, shorter days and cool nights have the bass at guntersville feeding agressively. This fall is setting up to be one to remember. We are catching 30 plus fish on half day trips and the increased current flow this week yielded some big fish catches. The key is locating bait and you will find feeding largemouth bass. Our best baits have been a whopper plopper before the sun gets up and then a crankbait as the fish drop lower in the water column. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter August 12th Guntersville bass fishing report
The humidity is dropping and the days are getting shorter. What does that mean? Bites and lots of them. This is when we catch the highest number of fish all year long. I had 3 groups of clients this week and we caught 35 to 50 bass on half day trips with our best 5 ranging from 16-19lbs per day. You can catch them in any depth at the moment but the numbers of fish are being caught roaming around chasing shad. The best baits are spoons and crankbaits for numbers. To catch the bigger fish punching is a great option. If you would like to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter August 2nd Guntersville bass fishing report
The days are getting shorter and the fish are on the move. The pre fall shad migration has started relative to the length of day and thermocline depletion. The bass are locked on bait and they are following it from the river channel as they move towards the fall staging areas. We have been catching 30-40 per day with several nice fish each day. The best baits out deep are a hair jig and a spoon and the fish that have moved shallow are being caught on a pop R and a chatterbait. The schooling activity will increase daily and this is the time of year when sheer numbers are the best. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter July 19th Guntersville bass fishing report
I keep expecting Guntersville to slow down but it just gets better. I did 2 trips this week and we caught 40 per day with several big fish. The grass is the healthiest I have seen it in a long time and the bass population is at an apex. We caught fish from 2 feet to 20 feet and on every stop. Our best baits out deep are a hair jig and a spoon. Up shallow a pop r and a jig have done really well. Willow flies hatched out the first of the week and it was fun to watch the bluegill devour them and ofcourse the bass were close by. As the days get shorter the fishing will keep getting better. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter July 8th Weiss lake bass fishing report
The oldest misconception in fishing is that fish go deep when it's hot or when it's cold. The water temp is in the 90s and the fish are shallow. The water willow bite is excellent early morning and late evening. Shady banks are excellent all day long. Docks and brush are probably the best way to win a tournament at the moment. Our best baits have been a swimjig in the grass and flipping a creature bait around docks. As the days get shorter more and more fish will move shallow and position themselves strategically for the fall shad migration. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter July 1st Guntersville bass fishing report
The bite at guntersville just keeps getting better and better. This is the only lake I have ever seen that is at its best in the hottest weather and the coldest weather. The winter bite is incredible. Shhhhh. Fisher and Ryan won the abt with 27lbs and it took 18 to get a check. Every pattern is in play at the moment. If you like ledge fishing go get them. If you want to throw a frog they will get it. Fish are in all depth ranges and they are biting. One of my clients landed an 8lber on the 3rd cast this morning. If you would like to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Fish care 101
In this hot weather taking care of our resource is imperative. The fishing industry generates 500 billion dollars per year. To put that in perspective the NFL generates 19 billion. Without the fish there is no fishing industry. If you catch a nice fish take a quick picture and release it. The tournaments at the top of our industry do a great job preserving these fish and we should all try to emulate that. The Bass Pro Tour catches, weighs and releases immediately and hopefully many more can do that in the future. If you have to keep fish in your livewell for a weigh in do these 3 things and 99% will survive. 1:Run recirculators continuously 2:Use G juice(it's a fantastic product that saves fish) 3:Cool the water with ice. If you hook a fish in the throat simply cut the line and let it go. If we work diligently and take responsibility our kids and grandkids can enjoy fishing just like we do.
