Guntersville FIshing Charter May 27th Guntersville fishing report
Guntersville is one of the most dynamic and challenging lakes in the country. It is widely regarded as the top bass fishing lake in the southeast United States. It isn't easy though it takes hard work and preparation to be successful on this massive lake. Currently we are catching fish out on the tennesee river ledges with crankbaits and spoons. Yesterday my client caught his personal best which is always a special day. On half day trips I am averaging about 20 fish landed. My crappie guides are limiting out in the brushpiles easily. Go by gto or waterfront and stock up on tackle. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter May 21 Guntersville fishing report
Jacob wheeler just won the bass pro tour event at guntersville with a two day total of 54.15 lbs. The fishing is phenomenal as we are averaging 40 bass per day and the size is excellent. The fish can be caught shallow, deep or in between. The best baits right now are crankbaits and spoons. The crappie are in the brushpiles and my guides are limiting out easily. Shellcracker are on bed and I have a guide catching 100 per day. Go by gto or waterfront and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 12th Guntersville fishing report
I had 2 guide trips yesterday. We got 100 bites per trip and landed around 60 fish per trip. The fishing at guntersville is phenomenal right now. It took 25.11 for 5th place Saturday at goose pond and 31 won last Saturday. The fish are in 1 foot all the way out to 40 feet. Our best baits right now are crankbaits and jerkbaits fished along the transitional routes where the fish are moving toward their summer areas. A pleasant surprise is the amount of big spotted bass that are in the lake now. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter May 5th Guntersville fishing report
Shellcracker season is here!!! It only lasts a few weeks and this is the most fun fishing trip there is. I caught 200 big bluegill and shellcracker yesterday and it will get better as the water warms. Every client I take loves it and wants to go again. The bass fishing is phenomenal. It took 31 lbs to win at goosepond Saturday and those weights will be par for the course throughout the summer. The bass are shallow and on beds as well as on the river channel and anywhere in between. A super spook and 6xd have been great baits for us this week. The crappie are in the brushpiles and on stumps in 10-15 feet and my guides are limiting easily. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 28th Guntersville fishing report
It is fun out on guntersville right now. If you want to fish shallow you can and if you want to catch them deep you can. The fish are definitely in all 3 phases of the spawn. There are groups moving out and groups moving up. Yesterday we had 4 trips and landed over 200 bass. Our best baits are crankbaits and jerkbaits. You can catch numbers of small fish shallow but it seems like the bigger fish are deeper as usual. The crappie fishing is outstanding as most of them have recovered from the spawn and are set up on structure and feeding. We are catching them on a 1/16 oz jig with a Bobby garland type grub in blue ice and monkey milk. Go by GTO and stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 21st Guntersville fishing report
This time of year can be really good but you have to adapt to daily changes. The first part of the week we caught about 18-19 fish a day with several nice fish mixed in. Yesterday I made a change at about 10 am and we caught big ones every cast. There are several things going on right now. The shad are starting to spawn on the mornings when we have warm nights and the bream are staging around the beds. The bass are definitely in all 3 phases and every depth zone can hold fish at the moment. Our best baits are crankbaits and jerkbaits. The crappie fishing is excellent as most of them have set up in our brushpiles and my crappie guides are limiting out easily. The best bait for crappie is a Bobby garland grub on a 1/16 oz jighead. The best colors are key lime pie and purple monkey. Go by gto and waterfront to stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 11th Guntersville fishing report
This week we guided for bass and crappie everyday. April is truly a special time to be out on the water. The bass are in all 3 phases of the spawn right now. Our best baits right now are jerkbaits, crankbaits and a pop r. The bigger fish as usual are out deeper in the 9 foot range. Yesterday we had 6 fish over 4lbs and caught them on every stop. The crappie are around brushpiles and boathouses. My crappie guide kept 50 fish over 10 inches yesterday and it will keep getting better and better. We are tight lining a Bobby garland type grub on a 1/16 oz jighead in 12-14 feet. Go by GTO and waterfront to stock up on tackle. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 3rd Guntersville fishing report
I guided everyday last week and the fishing was excellent. The numbers of fish landed ranged from 28 to 50 per day. The biggest fish we weighed was 6lbs and 14oz. With the full moon approaching I expect another wave of fish to move up shallow. You can catch numbers of small fish shallow right now but all of our bigger fish have been deeper in the 7-9 foot range. The best baits right now are Ratltraps, chatterbaits and senkos. The crappie are moving into their pre and post spawn areas at the moment. The next 3 months crappie fishing will be incredible. My guides can easily limit out on big crappie. We are tight lining a Bobby garland type grub and a curly tail in 10-15 feet of water. Go by gto or waterfront and stock up on tackle. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter March 28th Guntersville fishing report
This March has been one for the ages. We have been guiding almost everyday and the fishing has been phenomenal. The weather however has been unpredictable at times. The biggest bass landed in my boat was an 8lb 14oz fish that was post spawn. Those really big fish ease up and spawn earlier than most think and then they escape the shallows before the fishermen figure out they are there. I averaged about 30 fish a day in March and that number will go up as the year progresses. My crappie guides have been showing off catching limits most days and the size of fish shocks most customers. The crappie are around bridges, brushpiles and boathouses. We have been catching them with a 1/16 oz jighead and a Bobby garland in key lime pie and albino. Go by GTO or waterfront and stock up on tackle before your next trip. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter March 20th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville showed out Saturday in the Alabama bass trail event. 29.55 won and there were 22 limits over twenty pounds. 40th place was almost 18 pounds. The lake is full of aquatic vegetation and the current out on the Tennesee river keeps everything active.  The forecast this week is for 80 degree temperatures which should move up a big group of prespawn fish. I expect the fishing to improve as the weather improves over the next few weeks. This weeks guide trips we have landed about 30 fish per day with the best day being 57. I have a few openings left in March and we have plenty of days available in April and May. The best baits this week were lipless crankbaits and chatterbaits. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed guide call 256-744-5185.
