Guntersville FIshing Charter June 7th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville is as good as it gets at the moment. 20 pounds isn't competitive in the 5 fish weekend warrior tournaments. The afternoon 3 fish tournaments are taking 17-19 pounds. As the fishing pressure has increased the behavior patterns of the bass have become more dynamic and inconsistent. Ofcourse there are schools of big ones meandering around out on the creek and river ledges and that's where the tournaments are being won. However there are plenty of fish hiding in uncommon areas simply avoiding anglers. There are also many fish roaming open water that can now be targeted with our electronics. Our best baits this week were a hair jig and a spoon out deep and we averaged 25 fish landed per day with the quality being excellent. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 31st Guntersville bass fishing report
I had 4 guide trips this week and the fishing was really good. We have been landing about 20 on half day trips with our best 5 anywhere from 18-21 lbs. The bigger fish have moved out on the ledges however they are extremely current oriented. There are still plenty of fish on the outside grasslines in 7-8 feet. Our best baits out deep are a spoon and hair jig while up shallow a chatterbait is getting bit. As the moon wanes the deeper bite will become dominant for the next couple of weeks. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 23rd Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville is getting better and better as the water gets warmer. It's taking over 25 pounds to compete in the weekend tournaments and over 18 pounds to win the 3 fish afternoon tournaments. I did 3 guide trips this week and the fishing was spectacular. On 5 hour trips we are landing about 20 fish with several really big fish mixed in.  When the current is moving the deep river ledges are the best pattern using a hair jig or spoon. When the water is still the grass on the outside of the river bar is producing using a big worm. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter May 17th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville in May can be a lot of fun but it can also challenge your skill set. There are 3 completely different patterns emerging. Deep ledges are starting to fire when the current is rolling. Bream beds are a great way to get a lot of bites and the shad spawn can be the deal in the early morning hours. I did 3 guide trips this week and the numbers were excellent averaging about 30 bites on 5 hour trips. The average size in May and June is second only to the winter bite. The best baits have been a hair jig out deep,a spinnerbait for the shad spawn and a wacky rig around bream beds. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 11th Neely Henry bass fishing report
The water willow is getting green and the shad are spawning in it at daylight creating fast action for the first couple of hours. Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits as well as a white swimjig are the best shad spawn baits. We have been getting about 15 bites in the early morning hours but then that slows down as the sun comes up. Then I have been moving off the river channel and flipping for pre and post spawn largemouth. A brown jig or beaver style bait is producing tons of bites although you may have to catch several small ones before a big fish shows up. Guntersville FIshing Charter May 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville has really turned on in the last few days with the much needed rain and current. I guided 4 days this week and the catch rates improved daily. There is always a shallow bite in a grass lake and that is evident at the moment but now there is a deep bite as well. We averaged 20 fish landed on 5 hour trips this week and some days our best 5 was over a 4lb average. Up shallow Texas rigged plastics are getting tons of bites but out deep your bait choice has to be a little more dynamic. Crankbaits, swimbaits and jigs are best out on the ledges. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 28th Weiss lake bass fishing report
Weiss is fishing really good at the moment. Both spots and largemouth are feeding agressively. The spotted bass can be found on gravel bars in 5 feet and a Carolina rig or 3/8 oz jig are getting the job done. Largemouth are up shallow in the water willow and near rock structure. Flipping and pitching a creature bait is a great way to catch them and a spinnerbait is producing when the wind blows. The local weekend warrior tournaments are being won with 5 fish around 18-19 pounds. As the full moon passes the weights and fish catch rates will improve. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 27th Guntersville bass fishing report
Guntersville is a massive and dynamic fishery. Now is the time to hone your skills at every technique. There are fish in 1 foot and 30 feet as well as anywhere in between. You can catch them on a big crankbait or a frog or just about anything in your box but you have to adjust and adapt to be succesful on a consistent basis. I guided everyday this week and we averaged catching 20 fish per day. One day we had a best 5@25 pounds which was also the day we had the least amount of bites. Guntersville FIshing Charter April 18th Guntersville bass fishing report
Water temps are in the 70s and everything in the lake is spawning. It's fun out there right now but it can also be challenging. I did 4 guide trips this week and we have caught them from 18 inches to 18 feet. We are catching about 25 a day and the average size is excellent for April. The easiest way to get bit is plastics up shallow but the bigger fish are out deeper and their feeding windows are short. A big group has spawned but many more have not. As the weather keeps warming the ledges will start producing soon. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Neely Henry bass fishing report
Wow!!! I am thrilled to see my home lake is producing as good as it has in decades. 10th place in the local weekend tournament was 18 pounds. I had a guide trip today on Neely and it was just spectacular. We landed 40 and our best 5 fish was 19 pounds. We caught them every stop out on the river and in the creeks. A brown and orange jig as well as a dt6 crankbait were our best baits. We caught a mix of spots and largemouth with many being prespawn so the fishing should keep getting better.
