Guntersville FIshing Charter February 15th Guntersville fishing report
Day 1 of the Toyota series at guntersville displayed the incredible fishery we have. 28 pounds is leading,20 pounds is 29th and 59th is 18 pounds. These weights are incredible and as the weather improves the fishing will just get better. You can catch them any way you want to right now. Livescopers are catching fish, the offshore rock piles are producing with a football jig and the shallow bite is improving daily. In March the first big group of fish will move into the spawning areas and the fishing will be excellent from that point forward. By April we will have fish in all 3 phases and in May the first big group will show up out on the ledges. Guntersville FIshing Charter February 9th Guntersville bass fishing report
Water temps have risen from 39 to 55 in two weeks and the lake is fishing very strong. The BFL is Saturday and the Toyota is next week. I expect big weights at the top and the check cut will take a strong showing as well. I did 3 guide trips this week and we caught 20-35 bass per day with our best 5 ranging from 17-21 pounds per day. You can catch them any way you want right now. The main river ledges are producing, the shallows have fish and anything in between. Our best baits this week have been a swimbait, crankbait and a spinnerbait. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter February 2nd Guntersville bass fishing report
The weather has stabilized and the fishing is incredible at the moment. Last week I did 4 guide trips and we landed a total of 95 bass from 3-7 pounds. There are 3 dominant patterns at the moment. A big swimbait slow rolled around the bridge columns is a great way to win a tournament with huge weight. A football jig fished in 12 feet near channel edges on hard spots is also a great way to catch big fish at the moment. The shallow bite is also improving and a chatterbait fished in 6-9 feet out from spawning areas can be productive. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Logan Martin bass fishing report
The bass fishing at Logan Martin is excellent at the moment. From interstate 20 down river the lake is clearing up and the fish are positioning in their usual prespawn areas. Gravel bars and chunk rock banks leading into spawning areas with deep water access are where I am catching the fish right now. I am catching about 15 fish per day with the best 5 usually around 14 pounds. As the water warms the bigger fish will start showing up and they will move closer to the pockets and bays where they will spawn soon. The best baits at the moment are a war eagle jig and a vision 110 jerkbait fished in 4-9 feet. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Weiss lake bass fishing report
The bass fishing at Weiss is excellent at the moment. The lake is clearing up from the recent rains and is at winter pool which is 3 feet low. We are catching 15-20 per day and the size is excellent with our best 5 ranging from 16-19 pounds on most days. The spots are feeding on the gravel bars and humps in the current and our best baits for spotted bass are Ratltraps and a 3/8 war eagle jig. The largemouth are up shallow using hard cover to break the current and feed. Best baits for the largemouth are squarebill crankbaits and an arkie style jig. As the water warms the fish will move toward their annual progression relative to the spawn and the fishing will continue to improve. If you want to fish with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter January 25th Guntersville bass fishing report
Wow!!! 5 days of extreme cold followed by 65 degree weather has yielded phenomenal fishing as expected. The grass is thinned out and the bass are feeding. This week we have caught them at will all day every day. This time of year the average fish is 4 pounds and they are healthy and beautiful. There are 3 dominant patterns on the lake at the moment. Ofcourse the famous Guntersville ledges are producing well with the fish positioned in 12-14 feet on the edge of the channel. Bridges can provide unbelievable fishing at the moment by simply winding a swimbait slowly beside the columns. There is also a shallow prespawn bite that can be effective at the moment. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-844-5185 or visit www.shaneellisfishing.com
Guntersville FIshing Charter How will this extreme cold effect bass fishing
This extreme cold will absolutely make spring bass fishing better. Several environmental factors are at play here. One thing that will happen is the entire water column is now cold. As soon as it warms up bass will flood the shallows. The next big factor is the aquatic vegetation will thin out and it will group up the fish and it's easier to get a bait through. Maybe the most impactful variable is a percentage of the baitfish and forage will not survive the cold so it will force the fish to be more agressive as they feed up in preparation for the spawn. Now where should you look to find them? Shoreline rock structure and hard bottom areas will heat up and attract forage and bass. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain at guntersville call 256-744-5185.
Guntersville FIshing Charter Neely Henry bass fishing report
The rain and cooler weather has the spotted bass feeding aggressively and some big largemouth are showing up as well. There are 3 different patterns at the moment that are working. A 3/8 brown and orange jig fished at a 45 degree angle on the bluffs is a great way to catch big spots right now. Cranking hard spots in 6-9 feet is working as well producing largemouth and spotted bass. Up the river in the current a spinnerbait slow rolled near wood is also a great way to catch big ones right now. The tournaments are taking 16-19 pounds but with spring approaching it will take over 20 pounds to win soon. If you are interested in fishing with a USCG licensed captain call 256-744-5185.

The deer hunters are in the woods and it's too cold for the weekend warriors. The fishing pressure has decreased and the fishing is spectacular. Saturday my client's first bite was a 10lb 4ounce and we landed 50 with a best 5@ 32lbs. The la...

Another cold front has stacked the fish up out on the ledges. 75% of the boats out deep are shaking a minnow which is absolutely a great way to catch them. However I have found if you do something different you can find a bite that hasn't been...
