Cape Canaveral Fishing

Cape Canaveral Fishing

Cape Canaveral, or Cabo Canaveral as named by Ponce de Leon, has some of the most productive fishing grounds on the east coast. With excellent inshore spots in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River, the area is known as the Redfish Capital of the World. From the many reefs near the beach to the Gulf Stream, Cape Canaveral offers outstanding bottom fishing and trolling opportunities.

Fishing the inshore waters around Cape Canaveral provides excellent Redfish fishing year round. Schools of over 100 fish are commonly found. There are also Black Drum, Bluefish, Cobia, Flounder, Sheepshead, and many other species of fish found in the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River .

Nearshore fishing Cape Canaveral on the many reefs, wrecks, and ledges offers excellent Barracuda , Jacks, Red Snapper, Mutton Snapper, King Mackerel, Sharks, and many species of Grouper. With many reefs within sight of land, you don’t have to go far to get a bite.

Offshore fishing Cape Canaveral can produce Blackfin, Bonito, and Yellowfin Tuna. Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) are found year round. Blue Marlin can be caught most of the year, but late Spring and Summer months are best. There is also lots of Sailfish and Wahoo in the waters during the Winter.
