Wow what a week at guntersville. I have done 5 guide trips this week and the conditions have set up perfect for us. The water level is high and the current is flowing. The water temp is 89 degrees but that full moon has a big population of fish up shallow. Yes, there are giant schools out deep uneffected by the moon but when there are fish in mul...

Capt Greg and Shane had a summer stripper open boat trip. Slow start only catching a couple and we landed on them and went to work releasing a lot and boxing our limit. The highlight was the last fish of the day- a 47 tank caught by Baqir.  Call/text 201-421-8653 to get your fill of summertime stripers sailing out of Perth Amboy NJ.  @yamahaoutboar...

Had Larry and Scott back out with there sons for some offshore fishing first time tunafishing for most of them. As soon as we got to the grounds had instant action all the boys got to bend the rod on the smaller bluefins till the yellowfins showed up. Ended the morning with 3 yellows and 2 blues. Decided to give them the full offshore experience....

The release from Cannonsville has been dropped back to 549 cfs. We have good cloud cover again and the forecasted rain looks negligible at.18″. Overall it looks like a great day to be on the water. Just watch the radar in the afternoon. The midday Sulphurs are offering the best shot at dry fly …

It’s been an exciting week at QCL with a noticeable shift in the fishery as we move further into July. The return of steady bait and some more forgiving weather has really kicked things into next gear. Coho have officially made their presence known and we’ve been seeing some great action just offshore of Shag […]

The release from Cannonsville has been increased to 750 cfs. The West Branch is in great shape and the cloud cover is a bonus. The midday Sulphurs are on the upper river sections along with some olives Cahills and Isonychias. Nymphing should be good on the lower West today with the clouds. Blind casting Isonychias …

Some river sections have heavy fog this morning but that should burn off in the next hour or two. We’re looking at another normal July day so head to the coldest water for the midday Sulphur hatches. There should be some Isonychias Cahills and olives mixed in as well. The lower West will fish best …

I guess that by now everyone knows the Yellowfin Tuna have turned up. In particular Yellowfin Tuna these fish are ranging between fifteen and sixty kilo’s and widely spread out. Indications are that the Bluefin are still down South with Longliners working around Jervis Bay and down to Bateman’s Bay. The way the currents are … Continue reading Ambi...

It’s been hot humid and buggy. The mosquitoes are crazy after the rain we had the other day. Ten minutes outside without bug spray? Don’t make that mistake. The high was 86 while the low was 81 with light to moderate winds. Gusts up to 28mph. Currently it’s 82 feels like 84 with SSW winds […] The post Hatteras Island Fishing Report appeared first...

We had a little lightening and a rain shower last night but the river flows barely bumped and everything looks fine this morning. We are seeing the midday sulphurs in the coldest river sections along with some Isonychias olives and Cahills. The lower West is in good shape for nymphing swinging wets or blind casting …

We went north today when I met Garland Clark and his son Chris up at Old Town Bait and Tackle boat ramp early. After easing out of Eagans Creek we made the short run over to Bell River and fished a flooded oyster point with float rigs and mud minnows on the very last of an incoming tide. The duo had a couple of nibbles but no takers. We ran thru...

July is the month for inshore shark fishing! We catch sandbar brown spinner dusky and hammerhead sharks close to the beach. No long rides! We catch these fish on light tackle. Flyfishing is also an option!

My wife advised me last night that we wouldn't be catching many fish today in that two of her friends had called in sick with symptoms of high barometric pressure - one with a migraine and one with vertigo. Unfortunately she was close to being right - we struggled a bit to catch fish today. I had met David Vice and his fishing partners Lee and R...
